Livestock Sales Reports - Lairg

Lairg lamb sale is frequently seen as a barometer for the year’s breeding and store sales,  and going by the prices seen at their first sale  on Tuesday 12 August 2014, there is some cautious confidence in the sheep sector.

There were 14,636 lambs at their first sale with one of the largest crowds of people seen at this auction mart for several years. The average price of ewe lambs  was up on last year.

  • Ewe lambs – 5,187 sold – £67.50 average – £7.54 up on 2013 – £148 top.
  • Wethers – 9,449 sold – £55.41 average - £2.17 up on 2013 – £67.50 top.
