Herdwick 10k Race: Saturday 5th July 2014

Cumbria Tourism, in collaboration with the Prince’s Countryside Fund, is organising a Herdwick 10k race in Langdale, to raise money for the Herdwick Sheep Breeder’s Association and to support the continuation of the Langdale Gala. More details can be seen here: http://greatlangdaleroadraces.co.uk/herdwick-10k/ .

They are really keen for the farming community to get behind this as much as possible and it would be superb to get a team of farmers signed up to participate in the race, which we can support with some strong local and national publicity. The event is media partnered by Cumbria Life and full coverage (including photography) will appear in the August edition.

For £15, each entrant will receive a Herdy Company gift, a pulled Herdwick lamb focaccia roll (or alternative of your choice) & free drink from More? Artisan Bakery, and free entry to the Langdale Gala the next day (same location).

They are hoping to create a bit of an event hub on the day, to include some local traders and activities. Again, if you know of any relevant traders, or any local/farming initiatives that could bring a stand/raise some awareness, they are very welcome to do so, free of charge.

Sheep fancy dress is optional. It’s a fun run – all abilities welcome.

Please get in touch if you are interested in being involved in any/all of the above opportunities. It would be great to have your support
