Membership of the Federation is open to all commoners in Cumbria. The annual membership subscription is currently £10. To join send a cheque for £10 made payable to the Federation of Cumbria Commoners to the Administrator together with your name and address and details of the common on which you hold rights. We welcome membership applications from Commoners Associations and ask that you send a list of the names and addresses of all members together with a cheque covering the £10 subscription for each member.

Copies of the Federation's DVD - "Common Interests: A Cumbrian Perspective on Common Land and Life”  can be purchased by sending a cheque for £10 payable to the Federation of Cumbria Commoners, together with your address, to the Administrator, Mark's House, Stewart Hill, Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria CA7 8HX. The DVD runs for 22 minutes.

March 2008.  Following the AGM and Conference on March 1st Harry Hutchinson was elected Chairman of the Federation for 2008.

January 2008. A letter setting out the Federation's position on temporary leasing of common rights under the 2006 Commons Act has been sent to Defra. This seeks a local order for the whole of Cumbria to allow leasing of rights for up to ten years in the county. To view the letter click here

November 2007. A letter was sent to Hilary Benn seeking recompense for the problems caused by the Foot and Mouth outbreak in the autumn. To view the letter click here.

Chairmen's Meeting, 27th November 2007. The annual chairmen's meeting was held at Threlkeld Cricket Club on Tuesday 27th November. The speaker was Marian Jenner of Defra's Uplands and Commons Policy Team who spoke on the subject of Commons Councils and progress with upland ELS. The meeting was well attended with over 50 representatives from around the county.

May 2007. Letters have been sent to local MPs seeking their support over the reliance by RPA on the commons register for proof of entitlement to grazing on commons. To view the letter click here.
